Benjamin Yang, spent his childhood in Suzhou, China. He later moved to Chile in South America during his middle school years, where he acquired Spanish as his second language.
Subsequently immigrating to Canada, Benjamin Yang pursued a dual degree in Computer Science and Statistics at the University of Toronto. Throughout his university career, he excelled academically, earning scholarships and honors on the Dean's List. Graduating with High Distinction, Benjamin Yang proceeded to obtain his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia (UBC) Faculty of Law. Upon successfully passing the bar exam, he quickly became one of Canada's youngest practicing lawyers, committed to the legal profession.
In litigation, Benjamin Yang has amassed nearly a hundred courtroom appearances, developing a robust and composed courtroom style. His litigation experience spans civil, family, commercial, lending, residential tenancy, and estate dispute hearings across various judicial bodies including provincial courts, courts of appeal, and the Supreme Court.
Benjamin Yang has successfully handled numerous Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) hearings, including tenant eviction applications, rent disputes and enforcement, objections to notices to end tenancy with compensation claims, RTB Decision Review applications, and subsequent administrative and judicial reviews at the Supreme Court.
He also possesses extensive experience in handling written litigation matters, such as objections to BC's residential vacancy tax.
In addition to litigation, Benjamin Yang handles a diverse range of non-litigation matters, including legal consultations, property transfers, prenup agreements, cohabitation agreements, separation agreements, company incorporations, business transactions, notarizations, wills, probation, loan agreements, powers of attorney, and demand letters.
As a fourth-generation Chinese-Canadian lawyer, Benjamin Yang understands the challenges ahead and is dedicated to serving the community by safeguarding their legal rights and interests.
